Is a ‘jouney diamond necklace’ too ‘intimate’ of a gift for a friend?
Brain L. asked:
My good friend is turning 18, and I bought her a journey diamond necklace. I am a female and so is she, so I don’t tihnk she’ll get the wrong idea, but since the ‘journey necklaces’ are supposed to mean “with evvery step love grows” is it weird to give that to her?

You’ve already made the purchase, so that kind of settles it. Give it to her. It is a wonderful gift for an 18th birthday. Never mind what the necklace is “supposed” to mean. Diamonds are diamonds.
Give it without a tag on it, so she doesn’t know who sent it, and just give her a card, seperately, with an offer to take her to her favorite restaurant on you sometime. And make sure you sign the card with: Your Friend, Jenn (or jennifer, however she knows you.)
Diamonds are diamonds unless you are buying an engagement style ring. Marketing hype gets the product noticed but a beautiful necklace is a fine gift for anyone. She must be a special friend for you to purchase diamonds for her. I still prefer my husband to offer me extravagant gifts and have never had a friend buy them for me.
Yeah, that’s too much. Diamonds say way more than friendship, no matter how much you love her. There’s a difference between friend love and “let’s get married” love.
